Our primary purpose is to socialize our dogs and make new friends via monthly meetups.
The Organizers of NYCYP are Rece & Tasasha and their precious Yorkie Playgroup hosts: Maximus & Peanut (pictured below).
Our History and Our Mission:
The NYC Yorkie Playgroup was founded a few years back and has been through a few organizer changes. Rece stepped up into the vacant spot as organizer in February, 2006. A Yorkie Meetup regular, Tasasha quickly assumed the role as co-organizer and Rece made it official shortly thereafter.
The membership has doubled since Rece & Tasasha took lead of the group. We also raised the group's overall rating from 2 stars to 4.75 stars!! It is our mission to continue to build our group by creating fun, exciting, purposeful events and activites for our members.
Our long-term mission is to grow into a relevant resource within the doggie community. In addition to our gatherings, we plan to build strong relationships with various businesses that serve the canine community so that we may give informative recommendations. We plan to connect with local canine charities to offer donations and assistance and use our collective voices to help change or institute dog-friendly laws and policies.
Members of our playgroup are committed to actively participating and make an effort to attend all events and frequent the message boards.
In Order To Join:
- You must own a Yorkshire Terrier , attend the monthly meetups and actively participate on the message boards.
- Select canine-oriented business owners and charity organizations are welcome to inquire about joining our membership for the purpose of keeping members informed of relevant happenings.
- Members of the media who wish to stay apprised of our activities for the purpose of including it in publications and event listings
NYC Yorkie Playgroup activities include:
- gathering at various dog runs around NYC
- indoor playdates on rainy, too cold or too hot days
- special trips for camping, hiking, and canine-oriented festivals
- Pawdate Pals? ~ a canine buddy matchup for one on one playdates
- Monthly Birthday acknowledgements/small gifts for every birthday doggie
- participation in various events organized by fellow canine playgroup organizers
- group donations to canine-oriented charities
- participation in dog walks and charity fundraisers
We are not a just website destination. We're a growing and expanding active playgroup.
Successful events of the past have been:
March's Mission BIG Turnout where we had more Yorkies than you can count!
June's Lunch & Libations at Bailey's Corner Pub where we sipped on Sangria while our Yorkies mixed and mingled and snacked on homemade gourmet treats!
July's Summer Picnic in Central Park The New York Yorkies know how to picnic! 40+ Yorkie lovers and their pooches gathered in CP for good eats and some play time!
We offer:
- regulated advertising and promoting to our membership on message boards and at meetups
- sponsorship opportunities for canine-oriented businesses
