It's time for our Yorkie Meetup again . . .

THIS WEEKEND
Sunday the 25th of October
at
Dee's Doggie Den from 1:00 to 2:30

This will be a Halloween themed meetup/party hosted by Dee's. Costumes are optional.

We're asking everyone who can to bring something to snack on. Hopefully we'll have chips, cup cakes, etc.

This should be fun and fattening!

NEXT MEETUP - - INDOORS - - on SUNDAY 16th of AUGUST at 1:00 pm

We have held several Meetups INDOORS at Dee's Doggie Den. Those attending in July voted to hold our August meetup at Dee's again. And Dee's has graciously offered to allow us. Dee has a very clean facility. And the fact that it's indoors allows us to hold our meetup without regard for the Texas weather. Our Yorkies were able to visit freely within a confined area; it's much safer than the dog park.

Dee's Doggie Den is not charging our group for using their facility. They are paying for an employee, Mary, to 'attend to our dogs' cleaning-up after their messes; they carry chairs in then out again from another store for us to use, they pay higher electric bills because of the air conditioning for our group. So let's show our appreciation by supporting their business. They have doggie daycare, overnight boarding (with Internet Web Cam), they do training and grooming. Plus, as you've seen, they sell a lot of cute Yorkie items....frames, stationary cards, bows, pencil holders, etc. We need to make them as happy with us are we are with them!

I saw a really cute and informative show on Animal Planet called Dogs 101. They played a 5 minute segment just on yorkies. On their web site I found several additional yorkie short shows. With the technical expertise of my son, I plan on downloading several of these cute shows for us to watch at our next meetup. Dee's has a flat screen TV hanging on their wall over the area we normally meet in.

We need to be responsible parents, make sure your Yorkie's are up-to-date on all their vaccinations ... Especially the Bordetella/Kennel Cough Vaccination. This is for their safety, as well as those who come into contact with them. The vaccination should be given every 6 months to have a good immunity to most strains of the virus. Dee's offers the Bordetella Vacc at the store for $12 + tax if anyone just needs the booster.

NEXT MEETUP - - SUNDAY 21th, JUNE at 1:00 pm

We held our March and April Meetup INDOORS at Dee's Doggie Den. The group voted to hold our JUNE meetup there too! It was clean and cool. Our Yorkies were able to visit freely within a confined area. For those of you who missed our March meetup, Dee's Doggie Den is located at 6444 E. Mockingbird Lane. (About 2 miles WEST from the White Rock Lake Dog Park; both are located on E. Mockingbird Lane.)

We are planning a meetup . . .
SUNDAY, 21st JUNE at 1:00 pm - INDOORS - at Dee's Doggie Den.

I'm not sure if we will have an organized talk or not. Barbara and Kathi may be there to give a talk. Either way, we owners get to visit and watch our Yorkies play! The Yorkies enjoy each others company and learn to socialize, romp and play. We owners often exchange information on vets, groomers, breeders, the list goes on. If you have a question about your Yorkie, there is bound to be someone in our membership who has some experience and can give advice. Some of our meetings have no organization whatsoever, the dogs run wild, the owners kick back. Sometimes fellow members give talks or sell Yorkie items. Each meeting is unique, and we have no idea what will happen at our April meetup. But it will be fun for the dogs, as always, and owners will have a hard time not smiling during the entire meetup as you watch your Yorkie having fun!

Hi ... We are looking forward to Yorkie meet-up again this April 19th from 1-3 pm ... Please make sure that you send out an e-mail asking all the parents to make sure that their Yorkie Babies are up to date on all their vaccinations ... Especially the Bordetella/Kennel Cough Vaccination ... Due to the fact that you guys have changed to an indoor facility this is a big concern of mine ... Mostly because we had 2 ppl sign up for services with us after the last meeting and both of the babies were waaaayyyy past due on their shots ... This is so important for you guys to protect your own doggies, but also for us to protect the doggies that we have for Daycare and Boarding ... We do offer the Bordetella Vacc at the store for $12 + tax if

White Rock Lake Dog Park is located at:
8000 East Mockingbird Lane
(where Mockingbird crosses over White Rock Lake)

The City of Dallas locks the dog park if it has been raining. So if it rains Saturday, or late Friday, the park will probably be closed. Check this web site.

Your Yorkie must have their current vaccinations, including Bordetella booster for the safety of all.

A bit of information about White Rock Lake Dog Park . . .
The city of Dallas has provided dog lovers with three spacious grassy areas, fenced separately and somewhat shaded for their dogs.
1. One area is for small dogs (under 30 lbs.)
2. One area is for large dogs (over 30 lbs.)
3. One area is for dogs of all sizes to swim in the lake.

We meet in the small dog section (dogs under 30 lbs.) At past Meetups, we have been able to meet under shade trees, in a corner of this section; a few other dogs come to visit and smell around, but basically leave our Yorkie group alone.
